Project status just got smarter – Here’s what’s changing

Introducing clearer, more flexible project statuses

Managing your project’s lifecycle just got easier. We’ve updated how project statuses work to give you greater visibility, flexibility, and control – no matter where you are in the process.

Depending on your subscription, different statuses may be available to suit your workflow. You can change a project’s status anytime from its settings.

Let’s take a look at the key stages your project might go through:

Preparation
Available on Premier plans and trials. This is your behind-the-scenes setup zone. Invite consultants and collaborators, organize documents, and get everything ready before external users join.

Preparation mode gives you total control without the pressure of the clock or billing starting.

Not on Premier? Your project will begin as Live by default.

Live
This is where the action happens. External users can now join, and billing starts – either when you manually change the status to Live or invite guests. It’s your primary collaboration phase. Share documents, manage workflows, and keep the deal moving.

Locked
Getting ready to wrap things up? Use the Locked status to protect your project from further changes. Participants can still view documents and activity, but no edits can be made. It’s perfect for the final review stage when control matters most.

As a project nears completion, control becomes even more critical. Our new Locked status is a simple but powerful way to prevent unwanted changes.

Closed
Ready to close the deal? Once a project is marked as Closed, it’s permanently archived. No one – including admins – can access it. Make sure everything’s finalized before taking this last step.
